It is said that one in four still see marriage as the ultimate commitment. As Valentine’s Day approaches, the pressure is on for those looking to propose on the most romantic day of the year.

Achieving The Perfect Valentine’s Day Proposal

If you’re planning to pop the question, there can be a lot of pressure put on achieving the perfect proposal. It is no longer just enough to get a beautiful diamond engagement ring, the proposal location and time must also be perfect.

In a recent online survey, it was said that men should pop the question exactly two years after dating, on a beach and on Valentine’s Day. Of the 2,000 people polled in the survey, 22 percent of women said that this would be their ideal proposal situation. Seen as a little cheesy by some, this overly romantic proposal setting and date is still seen as the most appropriate moment to ask.

For men looking to get the proposal just right, it is important to bear in mind that 22 percent of women said popping the questions should include an element of surprise, 21 percent a romantic setting and 20 percent down on one knee. Sticking with tradition, one in ten women also said that it was essential for their prospective fiancée to ask their father’s permission.

If you are waiting to be proposed too, taking a pro-active approach in the run up to Valentine’s Day has also been seen to pay off. In the survey by drinks brand Lambrini, one in four women admitted to being a ‘proposal pusher’, actively engineering and persuading their partner to pop the question. Dropping hints and taking their partner shopping for their ideal diamond engagement ring, ‘proposal pushers’ hope to prompt their partner’s declaration of love.
